Godavari River
The Godavari River is a major river in western India, stretching approximately 1,465 kilometers from its source in the Western Ghats to its confluence with the Bay of Bengal. Godavari River, often called the “Ganga of the South,” stretches roughly 1,465 km from its source at Trimbakeshwar in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra to its delta on the Bay of Bengal near Gopalpur, Andhra Pradesh. It is India’s second‑longest river, draining a basin of about 312,800 km² that spans six states—Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
