The precursor to ISRO, the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR), was created on 9 August 1962 under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) to coordinate early rocket experiments. INCOSPAR’s first launch, a two‑stage sounding rocket named “Rohini‑75,” lifted off from Thumba on 21 November 1963, marking India’s entry into space research. Launch Vehicle Architecture and Mission Profile
ISRO’s launch family centers on the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).
