India's electricity grid is a nationwide system of power plants, high‑voltage transmission lines, substations and distribution networks that supplies electricity to over 1.3 billion people. It fuels the country’s rapid economic growth and, in 2023, carried a record 1,200 TWh, with the Northern Region alone meeting more than 30 % of national demand.
