About — IPC 153A
Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code criminalises the promotion of enmity between religious, racial or linguistic groups by any act, speech or writing likely to incite hatred. It is a key provision to curb hate speech and communal violence. For example, a social‑media post urging violence against a community can be prosecuted under it.
