The Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, is a Parliament‑passed law that split the former state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories—Jammu & Kashmir with a legislature and Ladakh without one. By revoking Article 370’s special status, it placed the regions under India’s Constitution, and Legislative Assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir were held in 2022 after a three‑year gap.
