About — Kerala Literacy Mission

The Kerala Literacy Mission is a government initiative launched in 1989 to eradicate illiteracy in the Indian state of Kerala. It has been instrumental in achieving near-universal literacy, with a significant increase in literacy rates among women and marginalized communities. For instance, the mission helped increase the literacy rate among women from 44.5% in 1981 to 96.2% in 2011.
