Koodiyattam is an ancient Sanskrit theatrical tradition from Kerala, India, performed by the Chakyar community in temple theatres. Recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, a single Koodiyattam enactment can stretch up to 12 hours, dramatizing a Mahabharata episode with intricate facial gestures and percussion.
