Mughal miniature painting is a highly refined, small‑scale art form that flourished in the Indian subcontinent under the Mughal emperors from the 16th to 18th centuries. It combined Persian techniques with Indian themes, producing courtly scenes that documented history, literature, and daily life. A famous example is the 1595 portrait of a young woman from the Akbarnama.
