The National Commission for Ex‑Servicemen (NCES), created in 2022, is a statutory body that protects the rights and welfare of former Indian armed forces personnel. It advises the government, monitors pension and rehabilitation schemes, and handles grievances. In 2023 it secured a uniform 15 % pension rise for retirees.
