About — National Highway Development Project
The National Highway Development Project (NHDP), launched in 2003, is India's flagship programme to upgrade, widen and build high‑capacity roads nationwide. It seeks to enhance connectivity, cut travel times and spur economic growth. Its first phase, the Golden Quadrilateral, connects Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata over 5,846 km of four‑lane highways.
