About — ONDC
ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) is India's government-backed open-source initiative to democratise e-commerce by enabling buyers and sellers to transact across any digital platform, rather than being locked into a single marketplace. Launched in 2022 by the Ministry of Commerce, it aims to break the dominance of a few large aggregators. For instance, in early 2024 ONDC expanded into food delivery and mobility services across multiple Indian cities.
