About ā Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA)
The Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) was an Indian antiāterrorism law enacted in 2002, granting lawāenforcement agencies broad powers to detain suspects and seize property. It was significant for expanding preventive detention and expediting trials, but attracted criticism for alleged misuse. Notably, the 2003 Mumbai train bombings case was prosecuted under POTA before its repeal in 2004.
