The Public Health Act 1911 was a British colonial law in India that consolidated earlier sanitary statutes and set up a municipal health framework. It gave local bodies authority to run dispensaries, curb epidemics and enforce sanitation, forming the basis of modern publicāhealth services. Under the Act Bombay built a cleanāwater system that cut cholera deaths dramatically.
