The Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order, 2020, directs central ministries to give preference to domestically made goods and services in their purchases. It seeks to spur local manufacturing, cut import reliance and generate employment. Under the rule, at least 30% of central procurement value must be sourced from Indian firms, rising to 50% for defence and aerospace.
