Quantum computing harnesses quantum bits that can exist in superposition and become entangled, enabling calculations to be performed exponentially faster than classical computers. Its significance lies in tackling problems such as cryptography, drug discovery, and climate modeling. For example, Google's Sycamore processor demonstrated quantum supremacy by solving a sampling task in 200 seconds that would take a supercomputer millennia.
