About — Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act of 2009 makes free, quality elementary education a fundamental right for every child aged six to fourteen in India. It obliges states to provide schools and teachers, and, for instance, requires private schools to reserve 25 % of seats for children from economically weaker sections.
