The Sabarimala pilgrimage is an annual Hindu journey to the hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Kerala's Western Ghats. Devotees observe a 52‑day vratham of celibacy and strict discipline before undertaking the 18‑kilometre forest trek to the temple. Each year roughly five million pilgrims converge on the site, making it one of the world’s largest religious gatherings.
