The Simla Convention of 1914 was a tripartite agreement negotiated in Simla among British India, the Republic of China, and Tibet to define Tibet's status and borders. It produced the McMahon Line, later the de facto India‑China frontier in the east, but China never ratified it, sowing the dispute that erupted in the 1962 war.
