About — Spanish‑American War
The Spanish‑American War (April–August 1898) was a short conflict in which the United States supported Cuban rebels against Spain, achieving decisive victories in the Caribbean and the Pacific. Its outcome turned the U.S. into a colonial power, adding Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines, and was sparked by the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana harbor.
