The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) in Andhra Pradesh’s coastal city is India’s first integrated steel facility built with indigenous technology, commissioned in 1992. Supplying high‑grade steel for shipbuilding, infrastructure and defense, it accounts for about 5 % of national output and produced 2 million tonnes in 2022, showcasing its efficiency.
