Indian Diaspora Identity in New York: What It Reveals About India

Today the Pew Research Center released its 2024 Global Indian Diaspora Survey showing that a majority of Indian migrants identify with multiple nationalities. The findings highlight the growing complexity of identity among Indian expatriates amid rising transnational mobility and U.S.-India immigration ties. The report notes that 68% of respondents would answer “it depends” when asked where they are from, and 42% plan to maintain dual citizenship.
